Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 at EWC 26 Survival Guide

With the Last Chance Qualifier now complete, the field for the Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 tournament at the 2026 Esports World Cup is set. The 16 qualified teams will be split into two GSL-format groups of eight, with best-of-five matches determining the top four teams from each group to advance to the eight-team playoff bracket.

The playoffs will use a single-elimination format, with upper-bracket teams randomly drawn against lower-bracket teams from the opposite group. All playoff matches will be best-of-seven, except for the best-of-nine Grand Final, where the 2026 EWC champion will be crowned.

The reigning champions

OpTic Gaming returns to the 2026 Esports World Cup as the defending champion after capturing both the 2025 Call of Duty League Championship and the inaugural EWC Call of Duty title. Led by stars Anthony "Shotzzy" Cuevas-Castro and Brandon "Dashy" Otell, OpTic enters the Black Ops 7 tournament with a target on its back. After falling to longtime rival Atlanta FaZe in this year's Call of Duty League Championship, the Green Wall will be looking to reclaim its place at the top with another EWC title run.

The defending CDL champions

Standing in OpTic Gaming's way is longtime rival Atlanta FaZe. Led by franchise star Eric "Simp" Lehr, the reigning Call of Duty League champions have remained one of the most successful organizations in Call of Duty history. After winning the Esports World Cup title in 2024 but falling short in their title defense last year, FaZe arrives in Paris determined to reclaim the crown. A victory would not only restore its place atop the EWC podium, but also add another chapter to one of esports' fiercest rivalries by denying OpTic back-to-back EWC titles.

A field full of threats

While OpTic Gaming and Atlanta FaZe headline the tournament, a deep field of contenders is capable of disrupting the title race. Toronto Ultra, Team Falcons, and 100 Thieves all enter Paris with the firepower to challenge for the championship, with 100 Thieves adding former FaZe star Chris "aBeZy" Rodriguez to its roster in a move that could reshape the competitive landscape. Meanwhile, the teams that fought their way through the Last Chance Qualifier will be looking to make their mark and deliver major upsets on the EWC stage.

Club Championship

Few clubs competing in Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 at EWC 26 are currently in contention for the Club Championship title. Team Falcons and 100 Thieves both sit inside the top 10, although 100 Thieves will only compete in Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 and VALORANT at EWC 26. Team Falcons, meanwhile, enter as a long shot to win the tournament. A partial roster reset and success in the Call of Duty League 2026 Playoffs could help the Saudi Arabian club find momentum in Paris.

Starting Wednesday, August 5, the teams will battle through the tournament bracket for a spot in Sunday’s Grand Final. The two finalists will then compete for the EWC title, a $600,000 grand prize, and 1,000 Club Championship points for their organization.
