Magnus Carlsen proved his dominance over international chess once again, sweeping the Grand Final against Denis Lazavik to defend his title in Chess at EWC 26. Delivering an undefeated campaign across the entire tournament, the Norwegian grandmaster took home the $250,000 first prize while also securing 1,000 crucial Club Championship points for Team Liquid. Congratulations to Magnus Carlsen and Team Liquid on another historic EWC title.

Rocket League returns to the Esports World Cup as 16 of the world’s best teams head to Paris Expo Porte de Versailles from August 12 to 16 to compete for a share of the $1 million prize pool and the EWC title. With the boosted car soccer action kicking off in Week 6 of EWC 26, here’s everything you need to know before the tournament begins.

The Road to EWC is the global qualification pathway that turns ambition into opportunity. Through publisher and independently run circuts, players earn their place at EWC by proving themselves against elite competition in their region, gaining both experience and visibility along the way.
Become a Champion
This path is intentionally demanding. Qualifying for the Esports World Cup is never easy, but it has also produced some of the event’s most memorable stories. In EA FC 2024, João "jafonsogv" Vasconcelos fought through the Last Chance Qualifier in Riyadh before going on to win the EA Sport FC main event. Last year, Team Falcons entered the Overwatch Champions Series 2025 Midseason Championship through the Last Chance Qualifier and completed a remarkable run that ended with them lifting the trophy. Road to EWC rewards perseverance, and for those who endure it, the payoff can be historic.
