The story so far for PUBG MOBILE World Cup at EWC 25

Jul 31, 2025.

The stage is set for three days of high-stakes finals action in PUBG MOBILE at 2025 Esports World Cup. The remaining teams will look to take Alpha7 Esports’ crown and claim the $500,000 first-place prize.

Big money on the line

After two entertaining stages of play, 16 teams are still in the running for the PUBG MOBILE World Cup at 2025 Esports World Cup title. Due to the format, every game in PUBG MOBILE counts, as teams have already divided nearly $1.3 million of the $3 million total prize pool by placing in the first two stages of the tournament.

The Indonesian squad Alter Ego Ares came out strongest after the three-day group stage, scoring an impressive 121 points. In doing so, they have already secured $80,000 and now head into the finals as favorites, looking to add another $500,000 to that total by securing the title.

Early curtains for the title defenders

Where there are winners, there also have to be knockouts — and this year, the curtain closed early for title defenders Alpha7 Esports. Last year’s champions came into the tournament with high expectations but failed to live up to them and defend their crown.

While they looked decent in the group stage, grabbing two map wins on the first day, they failed to secure a place in the overall top eight after three days, finishing 12th and missing out on a direct finals spot. In the following survival stage, they never seemed to recover from that blow, bowing out of the tournament with a disappointing 13th-place finish.

Winner winner, Türkiye dinner

With all of their teams making it into the finals, this year’s regions to watch are Southeast Asia, Central and South Asia, and Europe. Within the latter, Türkiye in particular seems to be a breeding ground for PUBG MOBILE talent, with three of the four attending European teams featuring all-Turkish lineups.

The fourth European representative is a mixed Team Falcons roster that will try to give local fans in Riyadh something to cheer for in the finals. They narrowly secured their spot by finishing 7th in the survival stage — just one point ahead of 8th-place Southeast Asian representative Yangon Galacticos, who themselves were only one point clear of 9th place, which would have ended their tournament hopes.

Three days of action left

After four days of intense group and survival stage play, PUBG MOBILE fans can still look forward to plenty of action as we gear up for a three-day final stage. The first two days will be all about teams collecting as many points as possible, with six games played each day.

After the 12th game, the match point threshold will be set by adding 10 points to the total of the team in first place. On the final day, the team that manages to claim a chicken dinner after reaching the match point threshold will crown themselves the PMWC at EWC 25 champions.

With hundreds of matches taking place over the next week, new legends will rise as champions are crowned and rivals are toppled. Watch the Esports World Cup 2025 live or check out the ticket options to watch the games in person!
