The Story So Far at OWCS MSC at EWC 25
Jul 30, 2025.
The Overwatch Champions Series Midseason Championship brings the world’s top 16 teams to Riyadh for the 2025 Esports World Cup. With a $1 million prize pool and intense regional rivalries, the battle for Overwatch supremacy is about to reach a new level.

Dominant Korean rosters
OWCS MSC at EWC 25 features a strong presence from Korean teams, with title holders Crazy Raccoon and fellow contenders T1 drawing attention as two of the standout rosters. Crazy Raccoon continues to show consistency, even when leaning into off-meta compositions, while T1’s performance has kept them firmly in the spotlight.
Crazy Raccoon, who took the trophy last year, brings the same squad back to Riyadh in an attempt to claim back-to-back EWC championship titles.

Western teams try to keep up
Al Qadsiah is looking like Europe’s biggest contender, benefiting from a rush-favored meta, whereas Twisted Minds will be hoping their recently revamped roster has kept improving and is now able to challenge the world’s best teams.
On the other side of the Atlantic, Geekay enters EWC 25 as North America's leading hope, bringing an experienced roster and a disciplined style of play. Pushing Geekay to the brink in the regional final, North America could also find strength in Team Liquid, who seem to be on the rise. They will try to keep their upward momentum going, aiming to build a legacy of their own at the Esports World Cup.

Wildcard from China
Weibo Gaming enters EWC 25 as a wildcard representative from China. While the roster features several well-known veterans, the team’s preference for dive compositions clashes with the tournament’s expected rush-heavy meta.
The group stage will leave a lot of squads with the taste of disappointment in their mouths, as only a handful can emerge. Crazy Raccoon are considered favorites in their group, and North America will face off against Europe as Geekay and Al Qadsiah take each other on early in the tournament. The single-elimination bracket that follows will be unforgiving, but its high-stakes format leaves room for surprises.
Club Championship
AG.AL, Team Falcons, Virtus.pro, and Team Liquid are all fielding lineups in OWCS MSC at EWC 25, making it a pivotal tournament in this year’s Club Championship. Most importantly, OWCS at EWC 25 brings another chance for Team Falcons to secure that necessary win on the road to defending last year’s crown.
