Four Must-Watch Players in Week 7 of EWC 26

Aug 19, 2026.

Every player arrives at the Esports World Cup with a chance to define their tournament. With the Club Championship and four titles still to be decided, Week 7 represents the final opportunity to make a mark on one of esports’ biggest stages. Here are four players to watch in the final week of EWC 26.

Mathieu “ZywOo” Herbaut, Team Vitality - CS2 at EWC 26

It is a grand Parisian homecoming for Mathieu “ZywOo” Herbaut, as the Counter-Strike 2 superstar returns to the EWC stage for the third time. The 32-time HLTV MVP honoree has already led Team Vitality to multiple S-tier tournament wins in 2026, helping the club secure the ESL Grand Slam and become the first team to win four S-tier ESL tournaments within a 10-event window. While Vitality stumbled following a summer roster change, the hometown hero has once again led his team through the Group Stage, securing its Playoff spot after beating Lynn Vision Gaming 2-0 in the Lower Bracket.

Peter "Peterbot" Kata, Team Falcons - Fortnite at EWC 26

Widely considered one of the most dominant duos in recent competitive Fortnite history, Pedro “Peterbot” Romero and Bryce “Pollo” Hermansen enter the 2026 Reload Elite Series Championship as two of the biggest names to watch. The new Fortnite Reload format, with faster-paced, high-kill gameplay, automatic respawns and smaller maps, could make the duo’s relentless playstyle even more dangerous, particularly given their history of thriving in chaotic, close-quarters fights.

Their road to EWC 26 was nothing short of carnage, as the Team Falcons duo repeatedly wiped out lobbies during the North American qualifiers and became the first duo to cross the 350-point threshold. While they finished seventh at the FNCS 2026 Major 2 Grand Finals, they set an unprecedented record with 48 kills in a single game during the FNCS 2026 Last Chance Qualifiers. Statistics also show the duo consistently deals around 7,000 more damage than any other duo in their lobbies, making Peterbot and Pollo two of the most dangerous players entering EWC 26.

Meng “Doo” Kun, AG.AL - CROSSFIRE at EWC 26

Once a rising prodigy, now a living legend, EWC 25 champion and SONY MVP Meng “Doo” Kun returns to the CROSSFIRE stage looking to defend his title and lead AG.AL to back-to-back EWC championships. Following his historic EWC 25 victory, Doo continued to cement his status as one of the franchise’s modern greats, leading AG.AL to a regional championship at CFPL Spring 2026. He also earned MVP honors for his Grand Final performance, and now returns to EWC 26 hoping to deliver another championship run and claim his second EWC title.

Carl-Antoni “Carl Jr.” Cloutier, Team Falcons - Trackmania at EWC 26

Carl-Antoni “Carl Jr.” Cloutier, the most accomplished driver in Trackmania history, makes his EWC debut at Paris Expo Porte de Versailles. A seven-time World Champion and back-to-back Player of the Year in 2024 and 2025, Carl Jr. has built a legacy few drivers can match. Now competing under the Team Falcons banner, he will look to claim the inaugural EWC Trackmania title and give his club another boost in the Club Championship race.
