Five Must-Watch Players in Week 5 of EWC 25

Aug 07, 2025.

The action never slows down at the 2025 Esports World Cup, with Week 5 bringing in some of the world's best Call of Duty: Warzone, Rainbow Six Siege X, and EA SPORTS FC players together for the ultimate competition.

We’re deep into the action at the 2025 Esports World Cup, and legends have already been forged as players reign triumphant over their competition – raising trophies, and crushing the keys, hopes, and dreams of their opponents.

Along that path to victory, many stories are told – but only some become tales of champions. Below, we’ve compiled five compelling stories from Week 5. Will these players rise above the competition, or fall in the wake of greatness?

Anders Vejrgang, RBLZ Gaming - FC Pro World Championship at 2025 Esports World Cup

When you ask who the undisputed GOAT of FC is right now, there should only be one name that comes to mind, and that is Anders Vejrgang. Currently ranked No. 1 on the EA Pro rankings, he’s not only the first FC Pro World Champion, but has also continued to show consistent dominance throughout every tournament he’s played in since being crowned. In the two S-tier tournaments Vejrgang has competed in during 2025, he has one win and one loss, each against two of his biggest rivals.

Having finished in 7th place at EWC 2024, will he prove that he has what it takes to rise to the top and take home the $250,000?

Emre Yilmaz, Team Liquid - FC Pro World Championship at 2025 Esports World Cup

The blemish in Anders Vejrgang’s 2025 S-tier tournament record comes from one player: Emre Yilmaz. After finishing 12th at EWC 2024, he struggled to produce results until turning things around in the early half of 2025. He won an A-tier tournament (FC Pro 25 Open Cup January – Europe West), secured a top-4 finish at LaLiga FC Pro 2025, and claimed 1st place at the eChampions League 2025, where he defeated Vejrgang 2-1 to become champion.

João "jafonsogv" Vasconcelos, Al-Nassr Esports Mkers - FC Pro World Championship at 2025 Esports World Cup

His run in the 2024 Esports World Cup was so legendary that EWC named an award after jafonsogv. Award winners not only receive an additional $50,000 on top of their 1st place prize money, they also earn a special mark on the EWC Totem at the end of their tournament run.

Jafonsogv’s run in 2024 was awe-inspiring. The Portuguese star-in-the-making barely made it out of the Last Chance Qualifier, having lost twice. He didn’t let those losses hold him down, fighting through a field of more than 100 players, even shutting some opponents out before making it to the next stage of the tournament. The rest is history, as jafonsogv went 6-1 in the group stage and then crushed the competition in the playoffs on his way to hoisting the trophy. Going back-to-back would be a breathtaking achievement.

Troy “Canadian”Jaroslawski, Shopify Rebellion - Rainbow Six Siege X

Frequently cited as one of the greatest Rainbow Six Siege players of all time, Canadian has always been part of “The GOAT Conversation.” Having won the Six Invitational in 2017 with Continuum and in 2020 with Spacestation Gaming, as well as the Six Charlotte Major in 2022, Canadian has consistently brought out the best not only in himself, but in his teammates as well. And he proved just that across three different eras and teams.

Andrew “Biffle” Diaz, Team Falcons - Warzone at 2025 Esports World Cup

Ever since Team Falcons’ Call of Duty: Warzone roster became the 2024 EWC champions, they’ve been on a dominant run, finishing top 2 in most of the tournaments they’ve played in throughout 2025. Biffle has two S-tier tournament wins under his belt, with one at the 2024 Esports World Cup and the other at the World Series of Warzone Grand Finals.
