OWCS MSC at EWC 25 Champions: Falcons Soar To First Victory
Aug 03, 2025.
The OWCS: Midseason Championship at EWC 25 just came to an epic end, with Team Falcons taking home the gold, the bulk of the $1,000,000 prize pool, and 1,000 Club Points. Congratulations to the Falcons for securing their first win in Riyadh at the 2025 Esports World Cup.

It’s a historic sweep for Team Falcons, as the powerhouse dominated Al Qadsiah in the grand final to claim the OWCS: Midseason Championship trophy at the 2025 Esports World Cup. With chants of 'Let’s go, Falcons!' echoing across the stadium in Riyadh throughout the match, Team Falcons met every steep expectation the crowd placed on them.
Team Falcons’ unrelenting pressure
Team Falcons first took Lijiang Tower with great map awareness and control. Ham "SOMEONE" Jeong-wan used Ramattra’s Ravenous Vortex to prevent escapes, while backline pressure from Kim "Proper" Dong-hyun’s Tracer shut down Al Qadsiah’s attempts at capturing points. Al Qadsiah’s Symmetra teleports were to no avail, as the team trickled in for attempts at contesting the point in overtime. Despite D.Va’s desperate Self-Destruct, Choi "MER1T" Tae-mi connected key Railgun shots on Sojourn in the end.
On Esperança, Proper’s Venture made more standout plays. Both teams ran mirror heroes with Ramattra, Kiriko, and Lucio, and despite a last-minute Symmetra wall in overtime, Team Falcons held strong and closed out the map. With a 2-0 lead, the favorites gave Al Qadsiah no time to recover.
In New Junk City, both teams leaned into Symmetra-heavy compositions, trading early utility and Kiriko ultimates in fights. However, Team Falcons outplayed Al Qadsiah, as the latter team struggled against them for the high ground. Then, in Circuit Royal, Team Falcons looked firmly in control. With a calm defense, they shut down Al Qadsiah’s advances and sealed the 4-0 sweep.

SONY MVP
For his amazing gameplay as Team Falcons’ DPS, Proper was named the Sony MVP. He claimed an extra $10,000 cash prize. The victory was long overdue for Team Falcons as the squad finished in third at the 2024 Esports World Cup.
“Even before this tournament, I had to remind myself — ‘I will bring this team back to the top,’” said Proper. “And I think I proved myself, so I’m really, really grateful for it.”

Club Championship
This win is multifaceted for the Overwatch 2 superteam. Not only does it qualify Team Falcons for the Club Championship, it also earns them the Jafonso Award, which is given to teams that come up through the Last Chance Qualifier and win the entire competition. Team Falcons now sit atop the Club Championship rankings.
With hundreds of matches taking place over the next week, new legends will rise as champions are crowned and rivals are toppled. Watch the Esports World Cup 2025 live or check out the ticket options to watch the games in person!
