EWC25 Week 4 overview
Jul 30, 2025.
Week 4 of the Esports World Cup 2025 runs from July 28th to August 3rd in Riyadh, featuring four titles, PUBG Mobile, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, Overwatch 2, and chess entering their final stages.

PUBG MOBILE World Cup at EWC 25
The PUBG MOBILE World Cup at EWC 25 resumes on July 29th at 2 PM KSA with the survival stage, where 16 teams will compete for the final eight spots in the grand finals. From August 1st to 3rd, the grand finals will feature 16 teams — eight from the group stage and eight from the survival stage — vying for a $3 million prize pool.
On the final day of the grand finals, teams will play up to six matches. Teams become eligible to win after reaching the match point threshold, which is determined by the number of points held by the first-place team at the end of day two, plus ten.
Once a team becomes match point eligible, they must secure a ‘Winner Winner Chicken Dinner’ to be crowned champion. If no eligible team wins a match by the end of the sixth game, the team with the highest overall points will take the title.

MSC at EWC 25
The Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Mid-Season Cup at 2025 Esports World Cup begins its knockout phase on July 30th at 12 PM KSA. Quarterfinals and semifinals will follow throughout the week, with all matches played as best-of-five, leading to the best-of-seven grand final on August 2nd at 2 PM KSA.
With $3,000,000 on the line and defending champions Selangor Red Giants — competing this year as SRG.OG after teaming up with Red Bull OG — looking vulnerable, the rest of the competition will be aiming to take their crown and claim the largest share of the prize pool.

Chess at EWC 25
Chess at 2025 Esports World Cup continues on the main stage starting July 29th at 3 PM KSA. Last week's Last Chance Qualifier determined the final four spots in the 16-player tournament. The field includes some of the biggest names in chess, such as Magnus Carlsen, Hikaru Nakamura, and Fabiano Caruana — most of whom are representing clubs like Team Liquid, Team Vitality, and Team Falcons.
The main event begins with a GSL-style group stage over the first two days, followed by single-elimination playoffs leading to the grand final on August 1st at 8 PM KSA. All games use a rapid format with 10 minutes per player and no increment, with Armageddon tiebreakers if necessary. Offering a $1.5 million prize pool, Chess at 2025 Esports World Cup is one of the largest competitive chess events and blends traditional chess strategy with the energy of esports competition.

OWCS: Midseason Championship at EWC 25
Overwatch 2 joins the schedule with the OWCS Midseason Championship at EWC 25, beginning July 31st at 4 PM KSA. Sixteen teams — including Last Chance Qualifier winners and local favorites Team Falcons — will start in group play over the first two days, with the top teams advancing to a playoff bracket.
The final will take place on August 3rd at 9:30 PM KSA, concluding an action-packed four-day championship, with the winners taking home the largest share of the $1 million prize pool.
EA Sports FC Last Chance Qualifier
Week 4 also introduces EA SPORTS FC 25 at EWC 25, which begins with the Last Chance Qualifier on July 31st. The LCQ offers one final route into the main event, which kicks off on August 7th. While it does not carry prize money, its stakes are now legendary.
In 2024, Portuguese player Jafonso qualified through the LCQ and went on to win the entire tournament — an unprecedented run that deserves to be remembered. His underdog victory now lives on through the Jafonso Award, given to any player who replicates the feat of conquering the main event after starting from the LCQ.
With hundreds of matches set to take place over the next few days, new legends will rise as champions are crowned and rivals are toppled. Watch the Esports World Cup 2025 live or check out the ticket options to watch in-person this week!
